Cool + 20 Years = Nostalgia or Parody?

Most of the time nostalgia always equals something cool. My personal space is filled with things that I’ve collected that remind me of my past.  Sometimes it’s hard to let some things go, such as the super special limited edition “Highlander – Directors Personal Cut”  VHS tape I got at a Star Trek convention in 1990. While perusing the far reaches of my external hard drives I came across “Reality Bites,” which when I originally saw it, was a pretty cool movie.  I was 23 when in 1994 and could personally relate to some of the themes of the movie …

El Duderino + Qui-Gonn Jinn = Seventh Son

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQt6lYJHIOA&w=853&h=480] I’ve never been a straight up fantasy fan, but this looks interesting.  It’ll be nice to see a few more trailers to determine what audience this is aimed at. Cheers!

Summer 2013 Movie Preview: Man Of Steel

Reboots can be risky.  Poor reboots, even riskier.  Poor reboots of poor reboots have the potential to kill a franchise. Let’s hope that Zack Snyder does right by the Man of Steel and the film becomes the new standard.  No more of reboots, no more main character acting changes. First reports are promising, and the trailers are , of course, exciting.  I like the concept of dealing with Kal El as an alien and exploring how we, as a planet, react that news.  Pa Kent even mentions, “You’re the answer to, ‘Are we alone in the universe’.” [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6DJcgm3wNY&w=853&h=480] I’m also …

It’s Friday and I’ve not fogotten anything!

Believe it or not I’ve got my belt AND my wallet. I’ve actually got a lot to remember. I’ve got to send out my Dad’s rent, housekeeping checks today. I’ve got to go food shopping today too and that’s got it’s own list. I’ve spent the last day chewing on, and coming to resolution on a few things and I think I can find a happy medium between ‘new’ and ‘old lives…in fact, it’s really just a transition of the same life I guess. I watched Blade Runner last night and it really stands up over the years. The lighting, …

I wonder what today will bring?

Since the Hannah Montana tour ended about a week ago it’s been pretty quiet on the support front. I was used to coming in to 300 email from 8 year old girls and now I come in and I’ve got 6 emails from people asking about their orders. I imagine when we get the LucasFilm deal done that I’ll start getting lot’s of email again, and this time it will be about cool Star Wars stuff. I don’t have much planned today, I was going to go out and get a couple of movies during lunch. It’s a Matthew McConaughey …

How I watch movies.

I love movies. Good ones, bad ones, serious ones, funny ones, irreverent ones, formula ones. I break down movies into 3 major viewing categories, with subsets in each category. I’m going to only cover the 3 major categories in this post and I’ll try to give good examples of each. Knowing which category of movie I’m going to watch provides that extra entertainment value. Mindless Movies is the first category. Movies in this category would include such titles as “Transformers,” “Die Hard,” and “Sin City.” These movies provide a great escape and are easy to digest and spit out. They …
