It will be interesting to see what can be done in this arena. “Other Ocean,” a Canadian company located on Prince Edward Island, announced that they are working with Sega to develop a demo version of Monkey Ball for the iPhone. How about Marble Madness? There are a ton of games that LEND themselves to accelerometers, but it will be interesting to see how the technology is adapted to more traditional gaming. In the video I can see that getting used to controlling your direction and movement will take some getting used to.
I had been on the verge of buying a new phone and the iPhones have dropped in price recently. I had a bad experience with a Nokia N95 that didn’t function properly on arrival and while that may be better in many ways than the iPhone the iPhone is just a cooler package. I know that there are several new touch screen phones with accelerometers not far down the line and they could make just as big of an impact.
I think we’re on the cusp of recognizing that a culture shift is coming. In the next 20 years I imagine we may be dealing with a bio-techno integration as a culture. Interesting stuff to ponder anyway.
