Shows that shaped my Sci-Fi Mind.

I was talking to J the other day about shows I watched and loved as a child.  I’ve got a huge collection of science fiction movies, some pretty rare, but the SciFi TV shows that rounded out my exposure aren’t available on DVD…so thanks to YouTube here are a few of my favorites. Space Academy – This show was a Saturday morning staple for me. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnAaMH5SzMA] U.F.O – A British show that really drew me in.  The Aliens breathed in a blue liquid and freaked me out! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB1k02yh43A] This list wouldn’t be complete without Space 1999!!!! Definite lack of Comedy in my life.

I’m watching Arrested Development and it’s hilarious. My life…not so much. My Dad is a criminal, my son won’t return my phone calls, my job is stagnant, my car needs brake work…there’s a definite lack of ‘funny’ in my life. Don’t get me wrong I’m having a great time…I’m learning about legal due process, familial estrangement, answering the same support question in hundreds of ways and using my transmission to maneuver to a stop among other things. So…my mission? BRING THE FUNNY! Time to buy a Seqway. MiH

Fall TV – Will you watch?

There are a ton of (potentially) cool shows this fall.  In these days of technology most people have DVR’s so seeing everything you want to see is possible but if you don’t have a DVR then you’ve got to choose wisely. Here are a few of the shows I’m interested in watching. 1)  Heroes- Great show that fell victim to the writer’s strike.  Everyone is watching to see if they can recapture the magic of season 1…including me. 2)  Life on Mars – Backwards time traveling cop show…interesting and different but can Harvey Keitel sell such an odd premise?  If …

Jet-tribution?

The Patriots once again define “team.” Man-genius isn’t so smart and I expect he’ll be fired after this season if the Jets don’t go .500 or better. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4Fzis-IN7E] MiH

Ok…maybe next time.

I was hoping the world (as we know it) would end this week…no such luck. I keep waiting for the apocalypse to get a little zombie hunting in and my best chance for it just passed with the successful firing of the Large Hadron Collider.  I’m still holding out hope for the REAL event when very-high-energy proton collisions happen in the next few weeks.  That should take care of the ‘apocalypse’ part…I’m still working on the zombies.   If movies from the ’80’s have taught me anything it’s that as long as I have a shotgun, a lot of shells …

Fall is in the air today.

During lunch I went out the pharmacy to pick up a few things I needed and I could feel the change of season in the air.  I’m sure that it’ll be warm again before Fall asserts itself completely but I wished I had my fleece on today. I’m sure lot’s of you will think I’m crazy but I love the Fall and yes, even the Winter.  Winter not so much, but Fall yes.  I love curling up on the couch under a blanket, and feeling my cold nose in the morning…afraid to leave the warm bed.  I love holding a …

Maybe it’s not about having everything figured out.

Maybe the key to being free is embracing the uncertaintly of my life. I keep struggling to figure everything out and maybe by doing that I’m not allowing myself the experiences that could make me richer.  Instead of enjoying my job I worry about whether it will be here in a year.  Instead of getting on with my life with J I’m worrying about divorce and my history in a marriage, which over and I something I can’t (and don’t need to) change. I want more.  I want all those things I dream about and yet I’m afraid to embrace …

A bad assed case of the Monday’s.

Usually I’ll have my headphones on with one ear exposed…just to make sure I don’t miss anything said in here in the office.  Today the headphones are on both ears because I’m about to lose my shit listening to this asshole that sits near us. He’s a Giants fan and definitely not a Patriots fan.  All I hear is him laughing and saying stupid shyte like “It’s too bad Brady went down because Cassell sucks…I’m sad, I really am,” as he’s smiling, tossing peanuts into his pie hole.  I seriously want to put my fist in his eye-hole. In regards …

Dealing with Dad.

My Father lives in almost 1000 miles away and has Emphysema and chronic COPD, which stands for “Chronic, Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.”  It’s practically impossible for him to sustain ANY physical activity due to this condition and basically limits him to bed. As I’ve stated earlier in this blog I basically take care of him and his expenses from Ma.  I have two older siblings that live less than 20 miles from my father but I’m the one who has to take care of him and his affairs which really boils my bunny.  Not only do I have the added responsibility …
