In the middle of the PaxEast din…

I’ve discovered a small oasis. So far it’s been a busy few days with a few to come. My main goal was to meet as many gaming community managers as I could and I think I’ve done that so far and they’ve all been very friendly and remind me of people I’ve worked with in the past. The throngs of people get tiring but f you can navigate the channels there is quality content to be seen. Beyond the BLAM there are real exchanges happening between company and end user. Talking to the CM’S here it’s clear that the gaming …

To a Fault

My Mother and I are very much alike, to a fault. She wanted me to listen to a song that meant a lot to her and it didn’t appeal to me in the way that she hoped.  I reacted in my normal sarcastic way and she took exception to it and stomped off in huff.  Reminds me of me…and it’s annoying. Heh.  Funny how you’re just like the ones you love.

14 Down, 26 to Go.

Here is a bit of video from one of our most recent prenatal appointments.  If you look closely you can see the little bugger jumping around in there. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoPI8sLJuNs] Cognitively I understand there is a human being growing inside my wife and even though I’ve been through it before it’s still a bit hard to comprehend what’s actually coming.  This is a human I’ve yet to meet, but will eventually be one of my best friends. The memories I have of my son Alex being a baby seem so distant and yet I can get back to that place in …

Reflections on Change

It doesn’t matter what station I hold in life, certain things, seem to ring true.  Regardless whether I’m sleeping on a $1600.00 mattress or the back seat of a ’74 Chevy Nova I still lie awake at night thinking of the future.  All people do that though, don’t they? So I think about my future and I wonder.  Not being one for surprises, the fact that I can’t foretell the future leaves me with much consternation. It was 20 years ago that I was in a similar position but different station in life, with a child on the way.  Reminiscing about …

Cool Concepts in Video: Thanks YouTube!

There is no doubt the internet is rife with great videos.  Some are better than others and this post is to highlight a few of the better ones.  I can consume videos all day, the quality to quantity ratio is a bit off on YouTube.  I’ve found a few I think you’ll like. Check this one out. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ey3g6BmuTI] This content already existed, but I love that this dude thought it would be cool, compiled and editing INTO something cool.  Nice work Landstrider The Faking Hoaxer takes it up several notches.  This guy is amazing and you should spend the time …

Hard Gaming Choices: Looking for a New Virtual Home.

I’ve stopped playing WoW for a while so my gaming schedule has opened up a bit! There are several titles out there that have intrigued me enough to spend the cash…but can they hold my interest?  MMO’s are my favorite genre and three MMO’s are vying to be a competitor if WoW is out of the picture. Global Agenda is an “3rdPS-MMO” hybrid. There are quests and PVE content but it’s limited, clumsy and the AI is a bit wonky. There are only 4 (Assault/Tank, Recon/Rogue, Medic/healer, and Robotics/group utility) classes but each class has a similar the WoW talent …

It’s Just a Game…NOT!

A wonderful chapter in my life is over. I was a dedicated World of Warcraft player for over 5 years.  Most of that time was spent in one Guild…The Arcane Council. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAxc7AQMA1I&hl=en_US&fs=1] The best group of people you’d ever want to play with…I can’t say enough about them.  Their company helped me through the highs and the lows…losing my business, getting a great job, being single, eventually getting married, and all these people had been there with me.  They shared all the important events in THEIR lives…I’ve seen their kids grow.  Heck, some of them ARE kids that HAVE grown …

FRINGE – Season 1 (on Blu Ray)

With the demise of shows like Lost, Heroes, Flash Forward and others my wife has decided that we’ve got enough room to add another show to our normal viewing schedule. There are enough sitcoms, enough reality, enough sci/infotainment shows on and with the demise of some our regular shows there is a definite lack of weirdness. This is where FRINGE comes in. I purchased the Blu Ray version of Season 1 to start the process of catching my wife up to speed before the season 3 premiere. We’re in the middle of the set and it’s interesting to see how …
