Monday? I love it!

While everyone enjoys the weekend it’s nice, for me, to get back into the flow of things at work. My work week is pretty static and allows me to conform to a schedule much easier than the weekend. I know what to expect during the week, which is good, for me. That’s not to say I’m not happy when Friday rolls around, because I am, but there’s nothing wrong with Mondays. Except this Monday. I have a couple of Dr’s appointments this morning which means I didn’t get in to work until 11:30 am. The Cafeteria is closed due to …

Trying to pass the time.

What a lonely Saturday. I was able to get my laundry done and the house picked up. I played Piano for about 3 hours earlier then napped in my chair for a few hours. I watched Atonement around 4 this afternoon and it was a decent film. The ending wasn’t terribly happy but poignant and overall I’ve have to say I’d recommend it. More tragedy than love story it plucks the heartstrings with what could have been. Interesting stuff. I’m probably going to watch Michael Clayton later, which is supposed to be good. I can’t help but feel the gnaw …

Happy Friday.

Well, I got my piano back and through the first rendition of Piano man my middle C key didn’t return. Same problem I took it in for…so I’m a little frustrated. But I still played it for 6 hours…just played songs in the key of D so middle C wasn’t a huge problem. You’d be surprised how many songs are in D, plenty for me to have some fun last night. It took me about 10 minutes of just messing around to get some of my feel back and it’ll take some practice to get back into live playing shape. …

Holy High Note Batman!

My Piano is READY!!! I’m so freaking excited I can’t contain myself…it’s been over a month without it!!!! Without it I’ve a little wonky. I’ve been busy at work converting guitar tabs to chords, breaking down songs and writing a TON in the last few weeks in anticipation of getting it back and now I actually get to HEAR the songs I’ve written and hope the sound like they should. I’m heading down after work because I can’t wait until Saturday. I’m picturing this slow motion scene of me and my piano running to hug each other in a field …

I love hats…and I have hair…

So why not incorporate the two?  This guy did and it’s pretty suave. Just another example of the amazing power of the interwebs! I’m thinking I would need some super gel and more hair…but it could be done as we see above. I’m pretty sure it would make me a hit with the ladies, don’t you think? Ok, I’m totally lying and this is a little weird for me. Who in their right mind would do such a thing to themselves? I mean, yeah, it’s hair and you can cut it off, but a lot of trouble went into this…this…HAIRHAT. …

The 64-bit question.

I’m thinking about making the switch to Vista-64bit. I don’t see the point of upgrading drives and staying with lame old 32bit XP. My hard drives are chocked full of CRAP and as usual I find the best way to deal with that is to simply replace the hard drive and store the full drive in my desk for future excavation. So, I was looking at hard drives this past weekend and it seems a waste to me to buy anything under 750gb simply due to the cost and pain of installing a new OS and moving files. Then I …

I may be 8 years late, but this shit is good.

I’m listening to Radiohead’s Kid A and it’s freaking me out. ‘Everything in it’s right place,’ starts of will a killer cool hammond electric piano (with a little play in it) hitting some wild Vangelis/Blade Runner style chords. Rhythm sensitive samples of everyday sounds dance in and out of my ears with stereophonic grace. Vocals start off nice and soft making you think everything will be alright despite the dangerous pace of the bass drum. A particularly spooky young girls voice is so cut and sampled it’s seems automated and clearly meant to freak me out personally. Eventually I’m forced …

Happy Monday.

I’m glad to be at work again. There’s a certain cadence I get into on Mondays that sets the pace for the week and today seems to be going well. We’ve got a new face in the office, which is good. It’ll be interesting to see the dynamic she creates being only the 2nd woman on our team. Hopefully we’ll get some contracts wrapped up soon and I’ll have a steady stream of email again. I’m only getting a few Hannah email and I can’t remember the last Gwen email I got. I’ve been thinking more about traveling. While it …

Just after Midnight.

I’m about ready to go to bed. Today was a pretty fun day.  Alex and I went out to lunch at the Outback and then went to see Jumper, which was a pretty decent film.  Hayden Christiansen was less wood-ish than he was as Anakin Skywalker…and Rachel Bilson…oooph, a cutie.  I wasn’t terribly happy with the ending which is LOTR-ish leaving a LOT open.  I was watching the Oscars tonight and was happy to see that No Country for Old Men won for best picture.  Daniel Day Lewis also won in the Best Actor category for “There will be blood.  …

Sunday Morning.

I’m sitting here with a full cup of coffee and sleep in my eyes listening to some music I downloaded last night. Thankfully I didn’t wake up on the wrong side of the bed today but I’ve still got some of the same issues on my mind, still a bit blue about the bad news…but I’ve getting right in my head for a few days and I’ll be fine. It’s the dreams that get me and why I’m particularly sensitive to it in the morning. I’ve posted about my dreams before and these dreams imbue helplessness, which I’m not accustomed …
