Glutton for punishment.

I’ve been trying to learn a difficult song and the middle “C” my keyboard is still broken. There is a certified Yamaha dealer down the street and yet I’ve not gotten my keyboard repaired.  I’m wondering if Al has anything to do with my reluctance to get it fixed.  He keeps asking me to play with the band again…and I keep putting him off.  While playing music is one of the great joys in my life I’m resisting the notion of getting back into the studio.  It’s not the “cover band” aspect that bothers me because those are the gigs that …

Marley is like a vitamin for the soul.

Whenever I’m super-stressed, in a “mood” or just generally pissed off I’m tough to be around. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLnq_tZf3eQ] Listening to the incomparable Bob Marley always seems to relax me and give me what I need to keep going.  The progressions in his songs are so natural and really strip away all but the but the basics.  The best artists are those that don’t over complicate the simple, beautiful melodies…and Marley was great at that. Just one of those days.

Today was one of those days. I spent most of the day trying resolve computer issues and barely any time actually interfacing with customers which frustrates me.  I guess it’s like when a Dr. gets sick…I hate being a customer in the customer service loop.  It starts with my company’s IT department and goes down hill from there..needless to say it wasn’t a good experience and I’ve no desire to reiterate it here.  I got the feeling other things were afoot at work too…some people on edge, others who are never on the phone are now on the phone explaining …

Simply Ambitious

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=–N9klJXbjQ] This book was a staple for me growing up in the early ’70’s along with Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein.  Spike Jonzes is directing so it won’t be “standard fare” for sure.  I hope they do it justice. MiH

WOLVERINES!

Early November, ’89 the wall fell and the Soviet Union disbanded shortly after that and U.S.’s rival disappeared quietly into the night. There was no longer the notion a worthy competitor and the fear of large scale thermonuclear war.  When I was growing up there was a cloud of mystery surrounding the U.S.S.R.  Could they beat us if we were to go to war?  All I knew of the U.S.S.R. before the wall fell were photos of Red Square, bread lines, Spies, East Germany, and other propaganda aggrandizing the communist state. Our new focus became radical Islamic fundamentalists, power hungry …

Excuses, Excuses.

I’ve not been using my blog as much lately. I’ve been through these periods before though so I suppose it’s cyclical. A lot has been going on in my life in the past few months. I’ve completely moved in with J. Wedding planning has taken up my weekends I’ve not played much WoW. Work has been busy and looks to get busier, which thrills me. My car has cost me several thousand dollars. I’ve been working out every day for almost a month I’ve been maintaining around 2k calories a day for about a month. I’ve been drinking at least …
